Anchor Bock Beer
Anchor Bock Beer out of San Francisco was just as fun to drink as it was to look at and read about. Well, who are we kidding...it was slightly more fun to drink ;-)
The label drew us in, then the description sealed the deal. It was brewed by one of the most traditional small breweries in the world and released in the celebration of the coming Spring (which is the season we were in when we tried it.) It was on the dark side and combined the fruit/sweetness/chocolate/toasted flavors that we like. Overall, pretty good.

Certified Evil
At the advice (dare?!) of a friend, we tried Certified Evil by Lucky Bucket Brewing Company. It's a Belgian Strong Ale that took the Silver Award at the 2009 World Beer Championships...and for good reason, too. It's great.
From the website:
Not only did we 'handle' it as challenged, but we quite enjoyed it as well! Will definitely purchase again.Certified Evil is the result of a 2008 collaboration project with Todd Ashman of Fifty Fifty Brewing in Truckee, California and Matt Van Wyk of Oakshire Brewing in Eugene, Oregon. Each brewer set out to create a dark Belgian strong ale with their own unique spin on the style. Since the first collaboration, six new breweries have been added to the project to invent a truly unique beer. This beer is properly named Certified Evil. The new Certified Evil recipe is more complex and interesting than the brew from 2008. This new beer blends Certified Evil aged in Cabernet barrels for one year with a younger batch of oaked aged Certified Evil. The combination makes for a vibrant yet smooth and elegant taste. The recipe also includes a wide variety of complex sugars including turbinado sugar, molasses and honey. The result is an amazingly complex beer. Truly a must try to any craft beer lover.

Oatmeal Stout
Oatmeal Stout from Breckenridge Brewery is a keeper, my friends. Not only do we love the label, but the chocolate, caramel and coffee notes were great. There was no bitterness, just full flavored deliciousness. Will buy again.

lemon drop martini
Now for something completely different...
We realize this is a beer blog and we will mostly stick to that topic, but this drink deserves an exception. It's my favorite drink and it was a surprise treat this weekend.
The mix: fresh squeezed lemon, two shots of vodka and one shot of triple sec
Place a couple lemon drop candies in a sugar coated glass and you have pure deliciousness!

Wild Blue Blueberry Lager
Wild Blue Blueberry Lager was pretty darn good. It was nice and fruity without being too sweet...almost a mix between a pop and a beer. It wasn't harsh, but it wasn't wimpy either.

Big Horn Hefeweizen and Big Red Ale
We didn't have the chance to take a pic of this brew while eating at C.B. & Potts Restaurant and Brewery in the Denver Tech Center, but it was delicious! We ordered one of their seasonal specials, but the Hefeweizen arrived instead. The waitress tried to confirm that we got what we ordered, but the banana flavor was too distinct to be denied.
I ordered the Big Red Ale and the Mr. ordered the Hefeweizen for the second round. He had the same brew as before (the Hefeweizen), but the IPA I had was just as great.
All in all, we had 3 Hefeweizen and one Big Red Ale. It would have been nice to taste the seasonal, but the night was still a success. Dinner and Dessert were amazing...and filling!...as well.
